Ian Murray
Ian Murray
Originally from Galashiels, Ian Murray settled in Biggar some ten years ago. He is widely credited with bringing ukulele to the town and changing people's lives for ever.... and not necessarily for the better. He is also known for playing mandolin in Clyde Valley Ceilidh Band, guitar in Biggar Big Band and various other musical enterprises.
Guy Heath
Guy Heath
Every band needs a grey-haired , experienced, old curmudgeon and we’re lucky enough to have Guy Heath.
John Riley
John Riley
Having been a no-hoper guitar strummer for years, desperate to perform as a rock star, the opportunity to join a band to strum a miniature guitar and perform in a group, looked like the only chance John Riley would ever get to perform on stage. So he joined the Dukes and has never looked back since; he loves every minute! (and the rest of the band love having him!)
Bob Simpson
Bob Simpson
Whispering Bob Simpson is an enigma.....who is he? where did he come from? and what did he just say?
Jim Softley
Jim Softley
Would-be ‘Britain’s Strictly Got The X-Factor on Ice’ contestant, Jim Softley sings like an angel and plays like the devil on his tiny soprano ukulele.
Gil Dunn
Gil Dunn
When the band needed ‘blonding’, Gil Dunn came along. Having taken lessons from Ian, she forced herself on the other members of the band, who seem to put up with her.
Chris McCosh
Chris McCosh
Chris McCosh flirted with the flute for a few years. She then realised that you can’t play the flute with a smile on your face and you can’t play the ukulele WITHOUT smiling!
John Currie
John Currie
Our fabulous percussionist isJohn Currie. Undaunted by serial failure in many previous decades ie punk/new wave/surf instrumental bands, John clings to Dylan's famous claim" I've suffered for my art, now it's your turn"
Bassman Joe
Bassman Joe
Our regular bass player, Alex, is taking a break and the wonderful Joe has joined us. Real name Alasdair Jack, but better known as Bassman Joe. He is a joy to have around!
